School Rules and Regulations

Manyoni Secondary School operates in accordance with the Education Act No. 25 of 1978, as amended by Act No. 10 of 1995. The school also adheres to directives and guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG) regarding the management and provision of education in Tanzania.

All students are required to observe the following rules and regulations throughout their stay at the school:

Offences That May Lead to dismissal from School

In accordance with national education regulations and school disciplinary policies, the following offences are considered serious misconduct and may result in suspension, expulsion, or other disciplinary measures as determined by the school administration:

  1. Theft or any form of stealing.
  1. Truancy, absenteeism, or deliberate avoidance of school attendance.
  2. Organizing, participating in, or inciting strikes, demonstrations, or unrest within the school.
  3. Using abusive, insulting, or offensive language towards fellow students, teachers, parents, guardians, staff members, or members of the community.
  4. Engaging in physical fights, assaulting fellow students, teachers, or any other person.
  5. Consumption, possession, distribution, or use of alcohol, narcotic drugs, or other prohibited substances.
  6. Engaging in sexual misconduct, marriage while enrolled as a student, or any behavior contrary to school regulations and national laws.
  7. Pregnancy, procuring an abortion, or involvement in activities leading to pregnancy.
  8. Participating in criminal activities, political activities within the school environment, or any acts that violate the laws of the United Republic of Tanzania.
  9. Causing or being responsible for the pregnancy of a student.
  10. Visiting entertainment venues, bars, nightclubs, guest houses, or other unauthorized places without permission.
  11. Possessing, using, or being found with a mobile phone or other unauthorized communication devices within the school premises.
  12. Showing disrespect to the National Flag or other national symbols.
  13. Attempting suicide or threatening to commit suicide.
  14. Deliberately damaging school property, public property, or the property of others.
  15. Being absent from the designated place of study, residence, or activity without permission from the Head of School or authorized school authority.

All students are expected to uphold high standards of discipline, integrity, and responsibility. Any violation of these regulations will be addressed in accordance with school policies and the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Education.

General Conduct

  1. Students must show respect to school leaders, teachers, non-teaching staff, parents, fellow students, and members of the community at all times.
  2. Regular attendance and active participation in all academic, co-curricular, and school-related activities are compulsory.
  3. Students are expected to be punctual for classes, assemblies, examinations, and all other scheduled activities.
  4. Students must understand and respect the school boundaries and comply with all regulations governing movement within and outside the school premises.
  5. Students are responsible for maintaining personal hygiene and keeping the school environment clean and orderly.
  6. School uniforms must be worn correctly and at all times as required by the school administration.
  7. Students must observe and follow the official school timetable and daily routines.
  8. All school property and public assets must be handled responsibly and protected from damage.

Prohibited Items and Practices

Students are not permitted to:

  • Bring or use mobile phones within the school premises. Communication between parents and students should be conducted through the Head of School, Matron, or Patron when necessary.
  • Bring electrical appliances such as electric irons, radios, or any other unauthorized electronic devices.
  • Wear hairstyles that do not comply with school standards, including shaving artistic styles, plaiting hair, or keeping beards.

Failure to comply with these rules and regulations may result in disciplinary action in accordance with the school’s disciplinary procedures and national education regulations.
